Happy Christmas and a bright and prosperous 2013

to Members, Friends and Family of Rotary.

Last Wednesday we celebrated with a special function at DOBELLS RESTAURANT in Greensborough.

Thanks to Zilis and Team for organising and to Graeme Knorr our MC on the night, for what was a great night of fellowship and fun.

The night was well attended and it was good to have some Members who have been unable to get to lunchtime meetings recently. Friends and Family of Rotary including some former Members added to the celebration. Trust Ray Davies to win the ticket under the chair prize!

A couple of weeks ago I heard a speaker talking about all of the negatives about Christmas such as over commercialisation, over emphasis of giving presents, too much indulgence of various kinds.

While there is undoubtedy some truth in this kind of sentiment, I found myself rather reflecting on the good things that I see all around me. Family and friends sharing together, the opportunity in some small ways to help others, experiencing the truth that it is "more blessed to give than to receive" and so I could go on. I'm sure your list is long too.

Of course Christmas is not always a happy experience for some peope and so let's spare some thoughts for them.

If I keep going in this direction people will stop reading if they have not already!

Betty and I join together to wish you a very very special Christmas and a prosperous New Year. We trust you will have some time for personal refreshing and look forward to good things together in 2013.

David
