David's Lingo 5:1
Our 5th Wednesday "Pub Night" was held at the Lower Plenty Hotel last Wednesday evening and those who were able to attend enjoyed a good night of fellowship. As often seems to be the case, these evening meetings are not as well attended as our regular meetings so I think we will review this arrangement for the new calendar year. We will make provision for some more discussion about it at a Club Meeting and then ask the Board to decide.
On Monday this week I was invited to attend the meeting of the Probus Club of Greensborough and to participate in the Launch of the book "Remember When...", a book of short stories written by members of the Probus Writers Group, Greensborough.
It was a very significant and interesting exercise for me, firstly because of the connection between our Club and Greensborough Probus and secondly because of the concept of the Writers Group and the outcome of the book of anecdotes.
I was so impressed that I asked Ann Sartori, who is the organiser of the group and also the Vice President of the club, if she would come and speak to our club about it. The only available date in her diary was tomorrow, Wednesday the 7th November and as we did not have a speaker for tomorrow I invited her to join us.
We have just 2 weeks until our Movie Night. How are you going with ticket sales.
I do hope we can sell the 100 plus tickets to make this a worthwile fund raiser as well as a good fun night. If the chosen movie is not in your favourite genre, howabout finding a family member or three or some friends who would enjoy it and sell them tickets. Let's encourage our Fund Raising Committee by making a big effort.
