Hi everyone

At last I am home from my wanderings and expect to be around without too much interuption from here on.

Thanks to Jerome and John for standing in during my absense to everyone else for keeping the ball rolling.

Just  prior to leaving for China I had the sad duty of advising the Board that Bill Carter had tended his resignation both as Secretary and as a member of our club. Bill has been a tireless contributor to the Club for many years and his role as Secretary has been an inspiration. Bill will be really missed in the Club and we wish him all the best for the future.

I arrived home from China on Saturday morning and paid a brief visit to the Appraisal Day function which was going very well. A report of the day has been provided by Zilis and will be published. Thanks to the Fund Raising team for their great work.

There seems to have been some confusion about this weeks meeting because the usual catering is not available. ALternative catering has been arranged and we are really looking forward to a presentation from Don and Meg McRaild about “Health Care in Remote Parts of the Pacific”. We always enjoy reports from Don and Meg and I encourage everyone who can to be there.

It seems that al least some people were given the impression that there would be no meeting this week and I take this opportunity to remind members that whenever a meeting is cancelled official notification is made to all members and others.
Next weeks's meeting is also an important one for us as it is the Annual Visit by Our District Governor, John Gatt. We will be seeking to provide numbers for the caterers and I do trust we will have a good role up for the meeting.

We have a pub night scheduled for the 31st and the Lower Plenty Hotel has been chosen as the venue.

Here is a pic from China. Guess which one is NOT a doctor!
