On Monday night I did a makeup at the Rotary Club of Sandy Bay in Hobart.

 I thoroughly enjoyed the evening and it reminded me of the value of wider opportunities for fellowship as part of the Rotary experience.

Although we have traditionally thought of visiting other clubs as a means to keep our attendance records high, there is, in my view, a much greater reason for taking advantage of opportunities like this is to see something of what other clubs are doing and in some cases to share some of our experiences.

I was particularly interested to see, from their bulletin, how they have structured their committees and noticed that they have combined some to make a more streamlined approach to service.

For example, New Generations and Vocational are combined under one Standing Committee with members allocated to specific tasks. Sounds a little bit like what PE Paul Craig is aiming for in the new year for us. International and Foundation were also combined into one Committee as were Membership and Public Relations.

I think I got a couple of ideas for fund raisers as well and overall it was a great experience. I'm sure it will motivate me to use other options to visit more clubs in the future.
