“Yesterday is gone. Tomorrow has not yet come. We have only today. Let us begin.”
Mother Teresa

Jerome reminded me that last Friday, 20th July was the anniversary of our Club Charter in 1968.

Between us we would have in our possession many items of history about our club. Probably the most valuable ones are the ones that we remember for various reasons. There are certainly some sad moments in my memory but there are many that would call for celebration.

It seems to me that we should aim to build on the strengths of our past achievements, draw from their experience to help us begin today, in the words of Mother Theresa, and keep working for a future that will help us all to further the Rotary aims:

To encourage and foster the ideal of service as a basis of worthy enterprise and, in particular, to encourage and foster:

First: The development of acquaintance as an opportunity for service;

Second: High ethical standards in business and professions; the recognition of the worthiness of all useful occupations; and the dignifying of each Rotarian's occupation as an opportunity to serve society;

Third: The application of the ideal of service in each Rotarian's personal, business, and community life;

Fourth: The advancement of international understanding, goodwill and peace through a world fellowship of business and professional persons united in the ideal of service.
