Now begins a new Rotary Year

Thank you to PP John for a great past year and for leading in the first part of the Changeover.
Thanks to Mark Leverett for an excellent job as MC and to everyone who attended making the evening a very enjoyable occasion. Our Changeover was the fourth for Betty and me as we attended Diamond Creek, Rosanna and Eltham earlier in the week.

One of the highlights of our evening was the presentation of Paul Harris Fellow recognitions ranging from first time to Ruby pins for Tony and Pam Bramley.

Possibly the greatest expressions of surprise were on the faces of these three ladies!

LITERACY ON HEALTH MONTH . Encourage awareness of health problems in our community.

We often focus on health problems in other countries and sometimes on issues in our own country and these are good things to do but how much do we know about health problems in our own community?

Bill Carter's article in this eBulletin following his attendance at the Olivier Newton-John Cancer and Wellness Centre reminds us of involvement we have had in the past in contribiting to this major project.

During July, maybe we can think about our community and if anyone has input related to community, friends and family that would help our understanding please let me know about it.

Tim Jack, who spoke at our Wednesday meeting earlier in the year, writes an article called "Stimulus" that is provided for Church Leaders. A sentence from this week's edition jumped out at me.

The role of a leader is to shape reasonable expectations - this is part of crafting culture.

It seems to me that this is very relevant to our involvement in Rotary and I may reflect on this a little more in our meeting today when I plan to present the Committee Structure for this year and hopefully allow some time for comittees to get together for a few minutes.

On a personal note. Betty and I are in the process of moving into a house this week so this may make us (me) a bit more stable!

Yours in Rotary
