Letter from President
Rotary International’s theme for 2022-2023 is Imagine
Dear Rotarians,
I look forward with great anticipation as we continue setting some wonderful milestones, not only in our local club, but also at Rotary International.
At the International level, we are happy this year to welcome the first female president of Rotary International, Jennifer Jones. She has great vision and drive and I look forward to her year of leadership.
At our club level, I will be sworn in as our clubs first 3rd generation president. My father, John B. Wickhem, having served as president from 1995-1996, and my grandfather, John C. Wickhem, serving as president from 1958-1959.
As I prepare for this year as your 104th president, I want to take a moment and properly honor all those who have come before me. I wish to thank and recognize all our clubs past presidents and the amazing contributions they have made, to our club, to our communities, and to the whole world.
Thank you for all you have done.
Rotary is a fellowship like no other. We have gathered with like-minded philanthropists eager to share our accomplishments with our communities. We are here to help provide humanitarian services, encourage high ethical standards in all vocations and help build goodwill and peace throughout the world. What greater aspirations could there be?
As we move into the 2022-2023 Rotary year, I want you to take a moment and close your eyes and think about our world.
Imagine where we are.
Imagine where you believe we should be.
Imagine all the great things that are to come.
Imagining can be a powerful tool and is a wonderful theme for our upcoming Rotary year. I know we all may be nervous or even worried about the world and what is to come. How will our journey go?
Don’t let the uncertainty of the future deter you from embracing a chance to amplify the good we do.
Remember we are a club full of those whose empathy and caring for others is manifest in all we do.
Always remember you are not alone. Don’t feel afraid or ashamed if you need to ask for help. Try not to do everything yourself, but feel free to try many different things.
I want to just give you a little encouragement. I know that Rotary has invigorated and empowered me to imagine all the great things we can do. I hope you all find the inspiration and encouragement to make your community a better place.
I know you will.
Remember that we are all here to help one another. Individually, we may only be small drops of water, but together we create an ocean.
I look forward to a wonderful year as your club president and the amazing experiences to come.
Please join me on this wonderful journey to the future and…
Imagine Rotary
I look forward to a wonderful year as your president.
