Award winning writer Ann Bausum talked about her latest historical narrative non fiction book,  Ensnared in the Wolf's Lair, Inside the 1944 Plot to Kill Hitler and the Ghost Children of His Revenge.
You'll want to listen to Ann talk about the journey she went on after her Publisher suggested she "go to Europe, maybe you'll find something" when she was considering research on the plot to assassinate Hitler in July 1944 at the military installation The Wolf's Lair. Her interest was heightened in May 2018 during the separation of children from family at our our borders and reminded her of Sippenhaft, a German term for the idea that a family or clan shares the responsibility for a crime or act committed by one of its members and the horrible price paid by members and families of the resistance in Germany. The Ghost Children ranged in age from a few weeks to 15 years. Ann traveled to Borntal where children were held and interviewed survivors of  Sippenhaft and Claus von Stauffenberg. Her book can be purchased from local  store Book World, and more on her catalog of books can be found at www.annbausum.com.
