In 1985, Rotary International accepted the challenge to rid the world of polio. In 1994, Rotarians went door to door in Peru inoculating children.  In 1997, Rotarians went boat to boat to make Cambodia polio free.  Polio was eradicated in Europe in 1998.  Recently in India, 1.65 million children were inoculated in five days!  The remaining handful of cases are in Nigeria, Afghanistan, Pakistan.  So close!  Once the world is fully polio free, the resources currently used to inoculate all children will be available for other needy causes.  Until then, Rotarians worldwide and District 6250 are keeping the focus on this important goal.  District 6250 set a goal of raising $220,000.  Under  Randy Sproule's leadership the District has raised $775,000 to help continue the efforts to eradicate polio worldwide!  Our club is so proud of Randy's "service above self".
