Board of Directors Meeting minutes
Rotary Club of Saginaw Valley Minutes
July 17, 2014
Call to order- 12:20 p.m.
Present – Michael Elliott, Trish Burns, Keith Harder, Mike Huffman
A quorum was not present – no official action took place on any item
Approval of Minutes - tabled until next board meeting.
Treasurer’s Report – Received and filed.
President’s Report – discussion was held on the following topics –
How we are doing – consensus was that the increased communication from President Elliott is helpful and appreciated.
Party on McCarty – a thoughtful approach to recruitment can also take place at the event.
Final Friday – a reminder to all that a casual meeting with all three clubs invited will take place at a local food and beverage establishment on the last Friday of each month and can be used as a make-up.
Crocuses – Elliott shared the idea of Rotary crocuses with the board and will bring the idea to the membership.
District Governor’s visit – Dee Brock, District 6310 Governor will visit our club on July 28.
Freeland Club Extension – Elliott spoke about the thought and implementation of a Freeland Rotary Club. More to come.
Club Leadership Development – according to RI, out club should also have three additional positions for leadership development – a Foundation Chair, a Club Services Chair, and a Club PR Chair. Elliott will be speaking with members to volunteer for these.
Roster Review – those present reviewed the members on the roster and discussed having conversations with some regarding attendance, etc.
President-Elect’s Report – none given
Committee Reports – none given
Old Business – Elliott gave Mike Huffman a copy of the RI Constitution, which all clubs are to follow, and a copy of our by-laws. Huffman will review to make sure they are simpatico with the RI Constitution.
New Business – Elliott wants to win a Presidential Citation this year and will engage members to make it happen as a club. Next board meeting August 18, 2014
