October Board Meeting Minutes

Present – President Michael Elliott, Todd Hart, Mike Huffman, John Kunitzer, Dr. Srinivasan, Victor Aviles, Erik DuRussel, Tom Lanning

President Elliott called the meeting to order at 12:10 p.m.

Minutes – There were no minutes from the September meeting, as there was not a quorum.

Treasurer’s Report - Treasurer Kunitzer presented the report.  It was approved and filed.  Discussion included,  grant monies, and Victor compiling a report for the club. We have 7 members past due, President Elliot to follow up with the past due members.

President’s Report – President Elliott reviewed with the board how things were going. Communication is going well and is appreciated.  The next Final Friday meeting will be on Thursday October 30^th at Horizon’s, 5-7pm.  Club Assembly is October 27.  The board reviewed the roster and attendance figures.  Attendance this year so far has been very good compared to previous years.

Committee Reports – Erik DuRussel will be working on asking members to be on his board in time for the upcoming elections. Tim Gohm will head up the Salvation Army bell ringing this year. President Elliot spoke about asking the membership to help out with a new project at the new CAN Council building. They need people to help out with the finishing touches to the interior. President Elliot also met with President Bieber from the downtown club, and President Lechner from the sunrise club to discuss a number of items that will be discussed at the Club Assembly.

Rotary Constitution and Bylaws – Constitution was passed in September, and bylaws to be discussed and approved at November’s board meeting.

New Business - World Polio Day is October 24 and pizza vendors will be encouraged to give a portion of their proceeds that day to Rotary. Dave Rapin (Little Ceasars) declined to offer money per pizza sold, but will be making a straight donation TBD.

Erik DuRussel briefly discussed the Club’s fundraiser for May/June 2015. He is working on a benefit partner, and possibly a new type of fundraiser and venue. More to come. Erik also requested funds for soccer balls for Havens and Shields Elementary. The board approved to purchase 12 balls for each school with the Rotary logo on each ball.

President Elliot will invite past scholarship winners back to a Rotary meeting when they are on winter break in December.

Annual Rotary Christmas Party will be at Horizons on December 15^th. Party will include all three clubs. Entertainment to be determined .

Rotary Gala – Novemebr 21^st, 2014, Zehnders of Frankenmuth.

Rotary Foundation Seminar, Oct 25^th from 8:30-11:30 First United Methodist, 4790 Gratiot.

Member Summit, Saturday Nov. 9^th ,9-noon
