Board Meeting Minutes August 21, 2014

Present – President Michael Elliott, Trish Burns, Keith Harder, Todd Hart, Mike Huffman, John Kunitzer

President Elliott called the meeting to order at 12:07 p.m.

Minutes - Minutes of the July board meeting were reviewed and approved.  Motion by Kunitzer, support from Huffman.  Motion passed.

Treasurer’s Report - Treasurer Kunitzer presented the report.  It was approved and filed.  Discussion centered on grant monies spilling into the next fiscal year and how to note the expense.

President’s Report – President Elliott reviewed with the board how things were going. Communication is going well and is appreciated.  The last Party on McCarty is August 21 – that has been going well and ticket sellers have been great.  Club Assembly is August 25 and Final Friday this month will be on Thursday, August 28 at Cuatro Amigos from 5-7 in the back room.  Point of interest – the Downtown Club is planning to start something similar when the Martini Bar opens in the Bancroft Hotel. The District Governor was pleased with our club and how we are running things.  The Loons baseball game was good, but a few members who bought tickets did not show. The board reviewed the roster and attendance figures.  Attendance this year so far has been very good compared to previous years. Member John Buckley contacted Elliott about the club sponsoring a table for $50 at the Masonic Veterans program in September. Huffman made a motion to that effect.  Second by Hart.  Motion passed.

Committee Reports - None

Rotary Constitution and Bylaws – Mike Huffman reviewed our Rotary Constitution and recommended that we approve it with some changes made to Articles 2,3,6, and 9 and bring it to the membership for a vote . Kunitzer supported.  Motion passed.

New Business - A strategic plan for the club will be a goal this year.  We need to think about something to do within the community for Rotary Day to show what the club is about. Elliott reminded the board that the Sunrise Club’s Jazzy Wine Affair is on October 9 at Four Points.  World Polio Day is October 24 and pizza vendors will be encouraged to give a portion of their proceeds that day to Rotary. Keith Harder will be putting up a Rotary Club of Saginaw Valley Facebook page and is looking for someone to be a second administrator.

Meeting adjourned at 1:23 p.m.

Respectfully submitted,

Trish Burns
