Rotary District 6310 India Covid Relief Fund – Update on July 1, 2021
India’s second wave of Covid-19 caused unprecedented devastation. The health system is extremely stressed across the nation. Authorities are struggling to provide emergency help as the oxygen and vaccine shortages worsened. Internationally, several countries sent urgent aid. Nonprofits such as Rotary Clubs and concerned individuals are donating to provide for relief.
Thanks to the generosity of many Rotarians and non-Rotarians, Rotary District 6310 India Covid Relief Fund received cash donations of more than $21,000 to-date.
During the months of May and June 2021, Rotary District 6310 India Covid Relief services fulfilled in partnership with Rotary Club of Guntur and Rotary Club of Banaganapalli include distribution of 45,000 N95 masks: seven masks, one mask for each day of the week to each Intern and Postgraduate Medical Student and Nurse in Guntur General Hospital and Kurnool General Hospital and Health Care providers in Guntur Infectious Diseases Hospital and Rotary Eye Hospital, Proddatur as well as Police and Municipal workers in Guntur and Kurnool and fire fighters and street vendors in Guntur.
In addition, 12 Oxygen Concentrators were donated and delivered to Guntur and Proddatur by two donors from USA – estimated value of each Oxygen Concentrator including transportation and tax is more than $ 2,000. Attachment included.
Next phase of planned services include distribution of 25,000 more N95 masks to nurse aides, technicians and housekeeping staff in Guntur General Hospital and Kurnool General Hospital and clerks in small businesses in Guntur.

Together, we can help India fight the virus.
Rotary District 6310 India Covid Relief Fund is focused on providing N 95 masks and personal protective equipment (PPE) to frontline healthcare workers and at-risk communities. If funds permit, oxygen concentrators may be sent to one or two public hospitals. The process of sending oxygen concentrators to India will be streamlined through American Association of Physicians of Indian Origin (AAPI). AAPI represents more than 80,000 practicing physicians in USA, has a Charitable Foundation and supports 17 free clinics in various states in India. Indian Embassy in Washington, DC is assisting AAPI with transportation of medical equipment and customs regulations. AAPI raised more than $ 3 million and already sent 1,000 oxygen concentrators from USA and distributed them in hospitals in various cities in India through SEWA International in April and May 2021.

Distribution of 24,000 N95 Masks in May 2021
24,000 N95 masks are distributed in the month of May, 2021. Seven masks, one mask for each day of the week, are distributed to each Intern and Postgraduate Medical Student in Kurnool General Hospital and Guntur General Hospital and Health Care providers at Rotary Eye Hospital, Proddatur and Police and Municipal workers in Kurnool and Street vendors in Guntur.
