Rotary Eye Hospital, Proddatur

The Rotary Club of Saginaw Sunrise (International Partner), along with its sponsors (Rotary Club of Saginaw, Rotary Club of Saginaw Valley, and the Rotary Club of Pigeon) have provided financial support for the Rotary Eye Hospital in Proddutur, India.

The Rotary Club of Saginaw Sunrise has completed and submitted the Global Grant application and will be receiving ongoing reports of progress, actively participating in problem solving, monitoring reports of outcomes,  and assisting with the interim/final reporting of the grant.

Who will benefit from this global grant?

The service area of the Rotary Hospital of Praddutur represents more than 3 million people scattered across 321 villages, predominantly from Kadapa and Kurnool districts of Andhra Pradesh, India. The Hospital is currently performing 500-550 cataract surgeries with intraocular lens, per month! Since the services are well appreciated, more patients from surrounding villages are coming to the Clinic and to the Hospital.

Even with this incredible medical facility, the surgical needs of the surrounding area are still not being met. There is need for a well-equipped secondary operating room to fulfill the community needs. The surgical needs require an additional 400 cataract surgeries per month.
