First, our thoughts and prayers are with the Kunisch family. Second, we heard from a wonderful presenter today, Kim Mount from Community Meals A.K.A. Meals on Wheels. We had no idea of all they do for the people of our community who need meals, but can't take care of it themselves.

Amazing morning hearing about little Jasmine's journey as a Gift of Life child. What a blessing! Grateful also for the Klingen family who hosted Jasmine and her mom during her pre- and post-operation. This is why we do what we do as Rotarians! Service above self!

Why are we excited for these pictures?!?! Because Sabina Sullivan was awarded the Walter D. Head Scholarship and our club was her sponsor! Pretty proud moment! Congrats Sabina!

We love to have fun! Congrats to our outgoing board. Thanks for your hard work this year. Let's keep the ball rolling! Also, many thanks especially to June Stahl, our immediate past president, for all of her work this year, highlighting her work on our wine event...wow! You rock!

Congrats to our 2016 Scholarship Winners! Great to see these young students excel, not only in their academics, but in serving their local community! Keep up the good work!

Thanks to Kerin Briscese, owner of Haute Fitness Health, for joining us on Wednesday and challenging us to start with attainable and sustainable goals to getting fit!

Here are some other great presenters we've had over the past month.  Below is Rob Parker, Lead Pastor of The Plant Church in Mahwah, sharing about Life Planning and giving us a tool with going after the life we desire.  We also had James Cole share with us about his efforts, along with other Rotarians, to get the Malawi Orthopedic Program off the ground that now trains and deploys orthopedic clinical officers since 1985 in rural district hospitals.

We thank Loren Gelberg-Off, CEO and Founder of Well Within, for her words of wisdom on dealing with the everyday stresses we face!  Great presentation!

Great to have Dr. Jyoti Mathews, board certified family physician and owner of Eden Medical, again with us!  She did a great job clearing up misconceptions in health that we all share.

Great, inspirational morning hearing from Bruce Moehler of Eversight New Jersey and all they're doing to make vision a reality to people. Wonderful stories of those finding hope through others donations.

It was a smaller morning with many of our members dealing with family circumstances--our thoughts and prayers are with you all! It was still an impactful morning hearing from former NY Jet, Bruce Harper of Heroes and Cool Kids! Thank you Bruce!

Great to have fellow Rotarian, Dan Shiver, with us this morning and hear about how his idea of giving at risk students, who are in the criminal justice system, exposure to career opportunities, has become a reality.  Thanks Dan!

Wonderful presentation today by Sarah Melone, co-founder of MarbleJam Kids!  Amazing to hear how they mold and bend to what the child needs instead of pushing for the child to change--great to have Sarah today!

Congrats to our club! (we can take pride in our work, right?) Received this award from the District for 100% participation from our members in giving to the Rotary Foundation where 100% is used for good all around the world!  Great job everyone!

Great presentations over the last two Wednesdays.  Below are Valerie Kinney, an audiologist from Sovereign Health Medical Group and Mike Simmel of Mighty Mike Basketball!

Rotarians, President Dave Brown (left) and Vice President Bob Traitz, bringing holiday cheer to children around the world through Operation Christmas Child!

Great morning today having Jim Henry, Founder & President of Life Givers Network.  It was great to have a paradigm challenge of living an abundant life NO MATTER how severe a prognosis.  Thanks Jim!

Here's a pic from last month's service opportunity thru Operation Goody Bag at the Paramus Elks Club. Volunteers wrote encouraging post cards, then decorated them and stuffed decorated bags with notes, candy and poems which will be distributed to servicemen and servicewomen as a sign of support.

We thank Mary Romance, Director of the Lee Memorial Library in Allendale, for sharing about what the library has to offer, how it all works, and how they are staying relevant in an ever-changing culture!

Five years since its debut, Rotary Club Central is getting a big upgrade
When we introduced Rotary Club Central in 2012, it revolutionized goal tracking and planning for clubs and districts — no more filling out paper club-planning forms or passing along boxes of historical club information every time a new leader took office. Rotary Club Central offered clubs and districts a quantifiable way to begin measuring local and global impact, specifically membership initiatives, service activities, and Rotary Foundation giving. But as with any technological advancement, in a few short years, Rotary Club Central began to show its age, and Rotarians took notice. They...
Rotary International Board adopts new zone structure
At its January 2017 meeting, the Rotary International Board of Directors adopted a new zone structure for Rotary clubs. Rotary bylaws require the Board to complete a comprehensive review of the 34 Rotary zones no less often than every eight years to ensure that each zone has an approximately equal number of Rotarians. The Board’s previous review of the zones occurred in 2008. The Board earlier approved the creation of three regional workgroups to develop rezoning proposals for Asia, Europe/Africa, and the Americas. These workgroups comprised one representative (either a current director,...
Centennial celebration honors 20 noteworthy global grant projects
Through The Rotary Foundation, Rotary members have supported thousands of projects that promote peace, fight disease, provide clean water, save mothers and children, support education, and grow local economies. We’ve also led the fight to eradicate polio worldwide. As part of our celebration of the Foundation’s centennial, we’re honoring 20 global grant projects with special recognition. Learn more about the projects using our interactive map.
Convention: Southern hospitality
The Atlanta Host Organization Committee is offering some good old-fashioned Southern hospitality at the Rotary International Convention from 10 to 14 June. It has planned a wide range of activities featuring everything from good food and music to inspiring tours of local landmarks. If it’s your first convention, these events are chances to meet fellow Rotarians from around the world, and if you’re an experienced convention goer, you can catch up with old friends. Hall of Fame baseball player Hank Aaron will host Rotarians for a “Strike Out Polio” night at the new SunTrust Park, where you’ll...
Member spotlight: The power of the press
When Teguest Yilma helped found the Rotary Club of Addis Ababa Entoto in 2002, she thought polio had already been eradicated from most of the world. But while Ethiopia had been free of the disease, Yilma was shocked to learn that new cases had started cropping up in surrounding countries such as Somalia. “I was thinking, it’s not possible, we can’t be free if the countries around us are not free,” she says. Yilma, the managing editor of Capital, Ethiopia’s largest English weekly newspaper, has brought a journalist’s skills to the fight against polio. She became vice chair of the Ethiopia...
