Rotary-TDF wheelchair project 2019

Every few years the Rotary clubs of Saint Lucia have been able to bring new wheelchairs to the island. This is usually undertaken in cooperation with other clubs and people. This year Rotary was fortunate enough to team up with the Tourism Development Fund who provided the funding to the tune of $ 120 000 for a full container load of new wheelchairs. Rotary in cooperation with the Wheelchair Foundation secured good wholesale prices and coordinated the import with the Ministry of Health. Members of the Rotary clubs will now undertake the distribution of these wheelchairs. The initial order was for 274 chairs with mountain bike tires. The number was later slightly reduced to faciliate the shipment of 12 a little larger specialty chairs for children with special need. These will be presented to the Child Development Guidance Centre.
