Rotary Club of Paramaribo Donates 15 Walkers to senior citizens in Elderly Homes
In Rotary year 2020-2021 the Rotary Club of Paramaribo (RCP) launched the Bigisma project, an initiative specifically aimed at addressing the needs of the elderly. Through this project RCP seeks to raise awareness about various aspects related to aging within our community. So far, three informational videos on dementia have been produced, and several webinars on the subject have been held. Earlier this year, the "Wegwijzer voor Dementia/ Dementia Guide" was also presented, consisting of informative posters and flyers about dementia.
In October this year, friends of the Rotary Club of Paramaribo contributed to the Bigisma project by donating 15 walkers, which have now been handed over to residents of various elderly homes. These second-hand walkers were a generous gift from the “Vreugdehof” Nursing Home in Amsterdam, the Netherlands.
On October 17th, most of the walkers were handed over to residents at the elderly homes “Ashiana” and “Huize Albertine” in Paramaribo. A portion of the walkers was also distributed to senior citizens in the district of Coronie. The donated walkers will significantly improve the mobility of users with physical challenges, thus enhancing their quality of life. The walkers were gratefully received, and the management of these homes expressed the strong need for such aids to make the lives of our elderly more comfortable. With this donation, the Rotary Club of Paramaribo contributes to this cause in alignment with the theme of this Rotary year which is "The Magic of Rotary."
Rotary Club of Paramaribo overhandigt 15 rollators aan ouderen in tehuizen
In het Rotaryjaar 2020-2021 is Rotary Club of Paramaribo (RCP) gestart met het project Bigisma, een project speciaal gericht op ouderen. Hiermee wil RCP in onze gemeenschap verschillende aspecten die verband houden met ouder worden onder de aandacht brengen. Tot nu toe zijn er drie informatieclips geproduceerd over dementie en zijn er ook meerdere webinars rondom dit onderwerp georganiseerd. Eerder dit jaar werd ook de ‘Wegwijzer voor Dementie’ gepresenteerd, welke bestaat uit informatieve posters en flyers over dementie.
Vrienden van Rotary Club of Paramaribo hebben in oktober van dit jaar bijgedragen aan het Bigisma-project met 15 rollators, die intussen zijn overhandigd aan ouderen in diverse tehuizen. Deze tweedehands rollators zijn een schenking geweest afkomstig van Woonzorgcentrum Vreugdehof in Amsterdam, Nederland.
Het grootste deel van deze rollators is op 17 oktober jl. overhandigd aan ouderen in Huize Ashiana en Huize Albertine. Ook is een deel van de rollators verstrekt aan seniore burgers in Coronie. De gedoneerde rollators zullen de mobiliteit van de gebruikers met een fysieke uitdaging aanzienlijk verbeteren en hiermee ook hun levenskwaliteit verhogen. De rollators zijn dankbaar in ontvangst genomen en alle tehuizen hebben aangegeven dat er een grote behoefte bestaat voor hulpmiddelen om het leven van onze ouderen aangenamer te maken. Met deze donatie levert Rotary Club of Paramaribo hieraan een bijdrage en wordt ook invulling gegeven aan het thema van dit Rotaryjaar ‘The Magic of Rotary’.
