President 2023-2024

Dear fellows, partners-in-service, guests,

It is with great honor and humility, that I stand before you as your new president of our amazing club. I am grateful to all of you for entrusting me with this responsibility. For me, this role is a personal challenge, as the frontline is not my favorite spot. Your trust empowers me to lead the way. Together, with a great Leadership Team we will embark on an exciting journey in the coming Rotary year.

 

As I reflect upon our past year, I am truly impressed by our impact on our community and beyond. Led by the powerhouse team of president Agnes, we carried out meaningful projects such as empowering girls, supporting education, reducing our ecological footprint, and preventing childhood obesity. We contributed substantially to the Rotary Annual and Polio Fund. We also celebrated our 20^th anniversary and engaged in fun, food, and fellowship activities. As a club, we genuinely made a positive difference in the lives of others and ourselves.

However, these are not times to lean back contently. The world faces many challenges that threaten our future. As a country, we face many issues that affect our personal lives.

 

The theme of this Rotary year, ‘Create hope in the world’, could not be chosen better. It provides direction when we feel overwhelmed. It lightens the road when we can not see ahead. It will inspire us to build upon our achievements and embrace new opportunities to bring hope to those who need it most.

First, we will continue to execute projects that address our community needs. Initiatives for educational programs empower girls and boys to build a better future and enable them to create their own hope. Programs for preventive health and a greener environment contribute to the well-being of our community, and bring hope for sustainable human and economic development. RI President Gordon McInally and District Governor Brian Glasgow call on us to also address mental health. Many around us face mental health issues and feel alone due to the many barriers to getting help. We can ease this burden by engaging in projects that increase awareness and offer support.

 

Furthermore, we will strengthen and intensify our relationship with our youth clubs Rotaract Club FRESH and Interact Club Brick by Brick. We will guide and mentor them. But even more, we will learn from them. Their creativity, dedication, and resilience will inspire us and move us forward.

Lastly, and as importantly, let us foster and cherish our fellowship. The connection and commitment we feel to our club and to one another is the very foundation of our actions. Let us embrace our differences, and value each member’s unique contribution. Diversity, equity, and inclusion will ensure our sense of belonging and unity.

 

In conclusion, let us embrace this Rotary year with confidence and hope. Together, we stand strong to face the challenges that lie ahead. I am confident that with your commitment and determination, we will inspire hope in the world and create lasting changes.
