Op zaterdag 17 juli j.l. heeft de overhandiging van 27 microscopen aan vertegenwoordigers van de volgende V.O.S. scholen plaatsgevonden.
On Saturday July 17, 27 microscopes were handed over to representatives of the V.O.S. schools.
Dit betreft de scholen; HHS-Dependance - dhr. R. Wirjosentono, SG-Kwatta - Mevr. S. Naipal, SG-Maho - Mevr. B. Sardha, VWO-4 - Mevr. H. Malone en SG Nickerie - Mevr. D. Bisai.
De microscopen zijn geschonken door de Global Organization of People of Indian Origin (GOPIO) en de Rotary Club of Paramaribo Residence (RCPR). Deze microscopen zullen gebruikt worden in het biologievak op de vwo-scholen met als doel de materie transparanter te maken. Vanwege het razende coronavirus zijn de scholen helaas gesloten en vond de oplevering plaats ten huize van Rotarian Reina Ori-Ramautar, de initiatiefnemer van dit project.

The microscopes were donated by the Global Organization of People of Indian Origin (GOPIO) and the Rotary Club of Paramaribo Residence (RCPR). These microscopes will be used in the biology course at the VWO schools with the aim of making the matter more transparent. Due to the raging coronavirus, the schools are unfortunately closed and the handover took place at the home of Rotarian Reina Ori-Ramautar, the initiator of this project.
GOPIO is een internationale organisatie die werkt voor mensen uit India of van Indiase afkomst die in andere landen wonen. De heer Prakash Jankipersad, voorzitter van GOPIO Chapter Zuid-Holland, komt uit Suriname en met de hulp van oude schoolvrienden binnen de Rotary is deze samenwerking mogelijk gemaakt. Onder het genot van een hapje en een drankje is hiermee invulling gegeven aan het Rotary-motto 'We serve to change lives'.
GOPIO is an international organization that works for people from India or of Indian descent living in other countries. Mr. Prakash Jankipersad, chairman of GOPIO Chapter Zuid-Holland, is from Suriname and with the help of old school friends within the Rotary this collaboration was made possible. While enjoying a snack and a drink, the Rotary motto 'We serve to change lives' has been fulfilled.
