November 6, the Rotary Club of Paramaribo Residence organized a fundraiser in the form of a cooking competition in which the fellows of the club had to prepare their food in teams at home and sell it in the Garden of the Waaggebouw. Possibilities for take-out service as well as consumption of small portions on the spot were available. The super fun sale went very smoothly and the bottom of the empty pots were quickly visible. The winners of the challenge cup and the cooks with the most bragging rights were announced by an expert jury.
Proceeds will go towards the ongoing fight against Covid-19. This will be done through support and collaboration with all stakeholders. Part of this is to continue to raise awareness of the importance of vaccinations and support for doctors and patients who, due to the lack of beds in hospitals, are forced to be treated at home. The Rotary club looks back on a very successful and competitive fellowship activity with great results that will hopefully bring some relief to the ever-changing pandemic challenges facing our community.
