Last Friday, 25 June 2021, the Handing-over and Appreciation Night for the Rotary year 2020-2021 was held through Zoom. Before the meeting started, a package was delivered to each fellow. It contained a beautiful wooden (tapas) board, matching tapas, a bottle of wine and a thank-you card. Some fellows also received an envelope with a present. There were specific instructions for this - 'Only open it when President Robert tells you to'.
Around 7:15 p.m. everyone was welcomed by President Robert Hahn who showed the attendees a compilation film of the past year. Opinions about the film were unanimous: "Have we done so much in the past year?" And we really did. A Covid year, with a mix of virtual and physical meetings and also a bicycle ride, a vaccination activity, the distribution of school furniture and much more. But also the 'regular activities' like the Rotary Youth Leadership Awards (RYLA) and the Vocational Excellence Awards (VEA) were executed.

Steven: Facilitator of school furniture, concept environmental project
Elviera: Project leader of the Pepperpot bicycle tour
Guido: For always making his house and garden available
Fellow Arleen was also nominated as an honorary member for her achievements to the club and as past president. This will ensure her being part of our Rotary family for a long time to come.
Next up were fellows Yvonne and Reina who were surprised by a 'secret courier'; they presented them with the Paul Harris Fellow pin and the accompanying certificate on behalf of the board. These two fellows had delivered exceptional achievements during the past years with the very successful execution of the GoGLO and the School furniture project.
As a final surprise, secretary Els received a plaque for her tremendous support to the board and to the club during the past year. This was preceded by a speech by fellow Ewald, in which he complimented secretary Els for her dedication, punctuality and commitment during the past board year.
Finally it was time for the virtual pinning of the new board. The physical pinning took place earlier in the afternoon in the open air. After president Robert handed over the pin and bell to the new incoming president Margriet, it was time for a toast. President Margriet introduced her board and new form of leadership to the club and presented her maiden speech. After closing the meeting there was sufficient room for fellowship while enjoying the delivered food and drinks.
