 2013-14 ROTARY ACADEMIC SCHOLARSHIP RECIPIENTS

Roatan Rotary Club awarded 11 scholarships to students attending public and private schools on the Island. Darina Ocampo was awarded the J. Alexander Scholarship for Academic Excellence. This special scholarship is given by the family in memory of J. Alexander, a resident of the Island.

Student recipients range from grade 6th through University. This year a larger group of young men qualified than previously. 23 scholarships have been awarded in the program's 2 years with one student graduating from Nursing School this past year.

The Roatan Rotary Scholarship program awards scholarships from $25 to $100 as a monthly stipend to help defray the cost of uniforms, books, tuition and school supplies. Students to qualify must be in the 6th grade or higher with a 90% or better grade average. Awardees are eligible to remain on scholarship as long as they meet the attendance, academic and behavior standards. Scholarships are awarded once a year and applications are available through any Rotary Member.
