After welcoming guest Assistant District Governor Christine Johnson to the meeting President Bob Beaumont called the meeting to order promptly at 07:15 followed by leading us all in the Pledge of Allegiance. In the absence of vacationing Pastor Ron Bob then gave a nice invocation. Bob called upon Russ Andrews for Happy / Sad dollars.

Russ started it off himself with happy dollars for the past weeks activities which included his 22nd wedding anniversary (with gift to the Foundation) celebrated with paddle boarding, the Maine Brew Tour, competing in the LL Bean 4th of July 10 K, (loss to his wife) and a 5 K (victory over his wife). Bob Beaumont followed with happy dollars for his 77th birthday (with gift to the Foundation). Bob then followed with a funny story about a flock of wild turkeys that have taken up residence on his property. Bob Davis had a happy dollar for Birthday Bob. Bill Brillant had a sad dollar for the recent passing of Joel Merry’s Mom after a long illness. Joel also had a sad dollar for the loss of his Mom but also a happy dollar for the associated visit of his Daughter and two young (ages 5 and 2) Grandchildren. He relayed the funny story of not being able to find the Baby-Wipes when the two year old really needed changing (and the wipes) only to find them in an unexpected location after they had left for home. Sherriff Merry suspects the 2 year old hid the Wipes while playing but lacks proof to prosecute. Assistant DG Christina chimed in with a happy dollar for Prez. Bob’s birthday. Bob Guerette had several happy dollars for his recently concluded 26 day trip visiting 16 National Parks out west and racking up over 4200 miles on the unlimited mileage Rental Car. Ron K. had a happy dollar for 49 years in Rotary. Gordon had a sad dollar for both Bill B and Joel and the loss of their Mom’s saying he lost his back in the 1960’s. He then quizzed us on who is on various paper currency. We got the easy one’s but not the hard ones, which is to say most small bills but not large bills, like over $100 (Ben Franklin) and who among us had even heard of a $100,000 bill (Woodrow Wilson).

Outgoing Prez. Bob gave thanks to Gordon for meeting set up, handling dues, to Tom C. for meeting notes and Club secretarial duties and to Bob Davis as Program Chair, Treasurer and chair of the Music at the Museum fundraiser event. Following that there was the formal Gavel exchange with Bob Guerette taking over as Club President, presenting Bob Beaumont with a nice plaque with gavel for his desk at home. Bob Guereete handed out lapel pins for the new year, mentioned possible fines for failure to wear, and discussed a few of his plans and goals for the upcoming year. These included increased emphasis on membership and the new District focus on combatting substance abuse.

We look forward to an exciting, rewarding Rotary year.
