Minutes of August 22, 2016

Prez. Bob Beaumont called the meeting to order promptly at 07:15 and led us in the pledge of Allegiance. He then called on Pastor Ron McLaughlin for the invocation and Ron delivered, calling us to serve Rotary in the Community and throughout the world. Sports fan Ron included thanks for the sportsmanship shown in the recently concluded Olympics and the joy sports brings to fans.

Prez. Bob then called upon Club Sheriff Bill Gillespie for Happy / Dad dollars with Gordon raising on Objection, stating it was time to shake things up in the Club and pass the Happy /Sad basket in the counterclockwise direction, after going clockwise for 10 years. It was a tough change to adapt to but all those in attendance were able to adapt. As first man in the new rotation Gordon had a happy dollar for the Olympics. Cliff had some summer fun paddle boarding and said his wife enjoyed an exchange visit to Japan. Bill Gillespie had a funny quote from General MacArthur. Pastor Ron had a happy dollar for swimming in Sebago Lake. Joel had some happy dollars for performing Grandfather duties in MA and for visiting Plymouth and witnessing the patriotic functions at the “rock” that is there. Bob Davis had a sad dollar thinking of the likely expenses associated with all the “idiot” lights that are staying on in his car. Prez. Bob had a happy dollar for a nice Sunday that included a bike ride into Brunswick for breakfast.

We had a Club meeting with discussions on the up-coming 10th Anniversary function – Thursday, September 29 at the Black Lantern B & B, 57 Elm Street from 6 to 8.

Next meetings speaker, Monday, August 29, is scheduled to be Brain Robertson Executive Director of Oasis Health Clinic. There will not be a meeting the following Monday, September 5 as it is the Labor Day Holiday.

There was a discussion about evolving partnerships for our Music at the Museum fundraiser. Possible inclusion of the Bath YMCA  may be an option.
