Stories and News
Our December 12th meeting at the Run of the Mill started promptly 2 minutes after the actual posted start time of 12:15 but, who is keeping record.
President Farley opened the meeting and welcomed everybody.

The meeting started with Vanna White a.k.a. Karen Chasse showing us the

way on the Four Way Test.

Next up was Paul D with a rather flat rendition of "Your a Grand Old Flag" . Paul was followed by Joe Basset who gave the invocation.

50/50 was won by Laurie Jo Ready.

President Farley then introduced President elect Bill Kany to introduce visiting Rotarians and guests. There were no visiting Rotarians. Today's guest included Carol Meader, I know her from bike racing- small world. She works with Andy at the Community Bike Center. Two days on the job and Andy already has her selling 50/50 tickets. Dennis Elie brought Jeremy Ray, principal at Biddeford High /School and his assistant Chris Indorf, a former Thronton Academy staff member.

Lunch was served. This month you could choose between soup and half a wrap, Caesar salad with grilled chicken breast, Meatloaf with all of the fixing or the Fish and Chips with had cut fries.

President Farley made the following club announcements:

1. There are still open slots for bell ringing on the 19th at the Biddeford Wal-Mart. You can contact either Joe Bassett at email insert or Ken Farley at  insert email.

2. If you are reading this you missed Christmas shopping at Wal-Mart for Paul D's Christmas committee. Paul and his committee ( authoritarian license= every time I mention Paul D I really mean Carol D, Paul's better 3/4's ). They have over 40 kids from 17 families that will have a better Christmas as a result of our efforts at Rotary.

3. Gift wrapping for all of the gifts will be at Saco Biddeford Savings on Main Street, Saco at 5:30 on December 19th- thanks goes to Bernice for arranging this.

4. We are still looking for programs. Please contact Ken Farley at kenfarley74@gmail.com or Joe Moreshead at jmoreshe@psmp.com . You know the drill. The program last about 20 o 25 minutes. The topics should be of interest to the membership. This is a not a forum for solicitations. The speaker will be provided with a free lunch as our guest.

5. We will not be meeting on December 24th or December 30th. Our next scheduled meeting would have been on January 7th however, we will be part of a joint meeting with the Saco Bay Club. The meeting is the annual auction kick off meeting and will be hosted by the Saco Bay Club. We will meet at Jimmy the Greek's at he halfway in Old Orchard at 7:30AM. The club will continue to send out reminders about the meeting changes.

6. At this mornings board meeting there was a motion by Bill Kany and a second by your intrepid reporter to elect Sue Gisp? to the Board of Directors and to chair Club Service. After a protracted and heated discussion trying to convince her to accept the position the Board voted quickly to accept the nomination before she could change her mind.

7. Who puts the fun in Rotary? Really, who does? Seriously, Brad, I like to call him Rob, Holt at UNE is graciously hosting a fellowship event. The venue- a UNE hockey game. This is just not any game. UNE will host Norwich University, ranked second in the country. We will meet in the room at the ice arena that overlooks the ice; more details and directions to come. The game is January 23, 2015 at 7:00PM. We will meet at 6:00PM where we will enjoy a feast of hot dogs, nachos, chips, dips, etc..., etc..... The big reveal--- you ready----UNE is also getting a liquor license so that adult beverages will also be part of the mix. It gets better- you can bring a date or a guest or like Michael Thomas - your associate.

Happy Birthday to Joe Basset, Peg Levasuer, Rolie Eon, Earl Goodwin, Elaine Parmitessa, Roland Gagne and Chuck Hennesy CHECK SPELLING

9. Happy Anniversary to Frank Dumais at 15 years, Ray Demers at 3 years and Brad Holt at 2 years

Here are the new meal options for this months meetings:

A.  Caesar salad with chicken

B.  Soup & Half Wrap of the Day - this will be different each week as it is different each day.  The selection of the day will be available at the registration desk when you arrive each Wednesday.

C.  Not your Mama's Meatloaf - stuffed with spinach & Cheddar and wrapped with applewood smoked bacon covered in gravy and served with garlic mashed potatoes & veggies.

D.  Fish & chips (fries).

After lunch President Farley introduced today's Sargent at Arms, Keith Jaques. Keith and his bag man Frank Dumais were a little slow separating Washington's from  members so I gave the first Happy Dollar.

They have caught the Laurel Hill Wreath Cemetery Thief. It turns out that Kany will be taking a leave of absence from the bank sot that he can represent his wife Holly- good luck. Did I tell you that I am on jury duty next month?

Dennis Elie was happy that he was able to cut a Christmas tree at Boiling Springs and then got to cut another tree for e fellow Rotarian.

Fausto had a happy dollar -something about changing his shirt for Andy Grief. This reporter does not want to know the details and did not inquire further.

Earl the Pearl Goodwin at 72 years old can still clean his own balls.

Joe B was glad that he still had a few more years before he caught up with Earl.

Paul D gave $10 happy dollars because once again his better 3/4's of 45 years together and 43 years married got him a smoking deal on some short sale house deal that did not include Saco Biddeford Savings. They closed the sale an hour before today's meeting.

There being no more Happy Dollars Keith lowered the boom. His targets:

Ken Farley having bell problems, Karen Chasse's poor Vanna imitation, Farley for allowing last week’s Tack announcing the 50/50 winner as "someone", Keith fined himself because he did not realize that his bag man, Frank Dumais has been on a "leave of absence" for the last six months( does Keith still represent the City of Biddeford ), Lucy and Bill for not including Keith in the auction email thread, Karen C for jumping into the email thread and getting involved, Brian D for thinking the San Diego had a chance against the Pat's. Lastly, Keith fined everybody that was wearing a name tag.

Keith closed out his remarks by noting that Chris Endorf, our guest has officially drank the Cool Aid at Biddeford High School by sporting a big honking orange watch. For those of you who don't know, Chris was a fixture for a number of years at Thornton Academy.
