Club Meeting October 30, 2018
 
Opening and Welcome:  Honory President Jay Presser opened the meeting with the Pledge of Allegiance and the recitation of the Rotary Four-Way Test.  Scott Seabury provided the invocation and led the club singing of “God Bless America”.
 
Members Present:  Dale Baker, Gayle Demko, Jed Dery, Frank DiGennaro, Gail Handley, Greg Heineman, Jon Kozlowski, Luis Lee, Robert Lowell, Don Miner, Jack Muska, Ken Pascoe, Ray Perleoni, Jay Presser, Scott Seabury, Tom Sullivan, Nancy Viggiano and Tami Zawistowski.  (18/34….53%).

Announcements: Jay made several announcements:
This is the last week to meet at Suffield Country Club’s Tavern.  Jay thanked Sammy and the staff for their service and presented wait staff with our tip donations. 
 
Next Tuesday we meet at Suffield By The River with an early start of 5:45 pm to accommodate Tami’s election day gathering which begins at 7:30 pm.  Rotarians are welcome to stay and attend Tami’s event.
 
A candidate’s debate will be hosted by Suffield Observer at the middle school on Friday, Nov 2.
 
Rotary has been asked by our Selectman to again provide golf cart rides for the voters during the next Tuesday’s elections.  Ken Pascoe collected the names of the volunteers and will set up the schedule.  Bring a towel in case of rain to clean off the seats.

PROGRAM:  Don Miner provided the ‘hands on’ training to the “STOP THE BLEED – Save A Life” training the Suffield Ambulance Assn. is sponsoring.  This training is designed to educate the public to the basics of bleeding control to elicit swift and effective treatment of injuries in the kitchen or with a power tool.  The practical training key points were proper application of two types of tourniquets and use of additional measures available to control bleeding while waiting for professional assistance.
 
Blue Ticket Winners: Blue ticket winner was Gayle with sides won by Jack and Tom.
Queen of Hearts:  Ray Perloni had the winning ticket and did not pull the Queen of Hearts.  Total winning pot now stands at $883+.
 
Birthdays and Anniversaries: None.
Adjournment: Scott closed the meeting with a group singing of “My Country Tis of Thee”.

Our Speaker is Celia Moffie, Executive Director and Owner of Suffield by the River which will be celebrating their 20th anniversary this December, joined by Liz Sansom, Suffield by the river’s community outreach coordinator - to highlight their history & community services.
