BOARD MEETING – General Minutes
March 12, 2019
Suffield by the River – 4:45 pm
 
Meeting Called to Order 4:45 p.m.
Board Members Present: Richard Kisiel, Jack Muska, Gail Hanley, Don Rawling, Scott Seabury, Gayle Demko, Jon Kozloski
Club Members Present: Natalie Donais
 
Secretary’s Report:
Rotary Club Meeting Minutes of December 11, 2018 and February 19, 2019 were passed.
Treasurer’s Report:
Jack provided the monthly financial report, with the following balance as of February 28, 2019:
Operations:     $3,109
           The Board approved unanimously a motion by Scott, seconded by Gail, to accept the treasurer’s report.
 
Old Business:
  1. Suffield Rotary’s 70th Anniversary – Dick will approach past presidents to chair this event
  2. ScholarSip Wine Tasting – this committee is holding a meeting tonight and will report on its progress.
New Business:
  1. Membership Categories – Service Membership is a new category and Dick proposes we present this opportunity for recognizing members at our weekly meeting for discussion.
  2. Prospective New Member Initiative – Under discussions with the club during first weekly meeting of the month
  3. Rotary Youth Leadership Participants – Natalie will work on this
  4. Joint Rotary and Interact Club Meeting – Natalie reports this is in the works but a dinner has been “tabled”
  5. Rotary Assistance in Opening the Library – Dick will approach Jackie; stocking shelves the week prior to opening may be required.
  6. Status of Chicken Coop Renovation – Dick will contact Ray Perleoni for an update and the Itel family to present their progress at an upcoming meeting
 
Club Member Forum: Natalie reported on the status of the Interact Club.The Club is most interested in putting together a Haunted House project this Fall and look forward to planning a two part theme – one side of the haunted house would be scary and one side tame to attract all age groups.Natalie asks the club purchase 30 stoles for graduation for the seniors (28 are graduating) which she will collect for re-use.Natalie has asked the kids to recruit from the eighth grade incoming students to boost the numbers as so many of the active participants are graduating.

Secretary’s Report: Foundation Meeting Minutes of December 11, 2018 and February 19, 2019 were passed.
Treasurer’s Report accepted with the following balance as of February 28, 2019:
Foundation:                                                $  28,046
Morgan Stanley-Managed Funds:                 $150,168
 
Old Business:
District Grant Seminar attendees confirmed: Dick Kisiel, Gayle Demko and Don Rawling volunteered complete the District’s webinar on grant writing to make the club eligible to apply for a district grant.
Annual Report to State of Connecticut – Dick will update on this status at next meeting.
 
Club Member Forum - No one from the club approached the Board
