Jack Muska - Paul Harris Recipient

Dan Kehoe inroduced Jack Muska as Suffield Rotarian's Paul Harris recipient.  Dan told us Jack was raised in Broad Brook  and attended East Windsor High until the eighth grade when he left for Cathedral High in Springfield. He spent most of his youth delivering newspapers and working on farms. At Cathedral he played football and was the Western Mass champion in the low hurdles. 

After high school he attended the University of Notre Dame where he majored in mechanical engineering with nuclear concentrations. Two days after graduation he went to work at Pratt and Whitney where he remained for 38 years. Jack earned an MBA at Rensalear while working at Pratt.  He also worked for International Aero Engine during his final years at Pratt where the Middle East was his territory.

Jack and Maryann were married in 1965 and have five children and ten grandchildren. Three of their children live in Suffield.

Jack starting volunteering in Suffield as a little league coach and trained to become an EMT on the first staff of Suffield Ambulance. During this time he was a member of the Suffield Jaycees. He was well known for trying to save money during the Oktoberfest by peeling 200 pounds of onions in his garage.
He also served as lector and member of the finance board at Sacred Heart Church. Jack served on the Board of Directors of the Ambulance Association, the Suffield League League and Packard Golf Tournament.

Jack has been Facilities Manager and Director of the Public Works for the Town of Suffield and a member of the building committee for the new high school and for the renovations at other schools.  He has helped with the planning of the new vo-ag  large animal facility, senior center and the Rotary Pavilion.

In his spare time he likes to golf, cross country ski, travel, read, build things and likes sports, especially anything Notre Dame. He will be retiring on August 1 as director of Public Works and looks forward to all that free time.
