Opening and Welcome:  Richard Kisiel opened the meeting with the Pledge of Allegiance and the recitation of the Rotary Four-Way Test and led the club in “God Bless America”.  
 
Members Present: Dale Baker, Gayle Demko, Jed Dery, Ralph Fletcher, Jackie Guzie, Gail Handley, Greg Heineman, Richard Kisiel, Jonathan Kozloski, Luis Lee, Robert Lowell, Don Miner,  Jack Muska, Roger Pratt, Jay Presser, Don Rawling, Charles Roumas, Gordon Stagg, Tom Sullivan and Nancy Viggiano. Attendance: 59%   20/34
Guests:   Heather Lee; Marsha Pratt; Karen Berasi – perspective member.
 
Announcements/Program:  President Dick Kisiel opened the meeting with a welcome to our guests: Luis Lee’s wife, Heather; Marsha attending in anticipation of Roger’s induction and Karen Berasi, a perspective member.  Dick announced the SOTG BBQ has netted $5400 to date with additional funds yet to be collected.  He thanked Ken Pascoe for heading up this effort and all others who participated; a total of 84% of our membership and many spouses and children and Interact students joined together over the weekend.  Congratulations to the club for their excellent sense of comradeship, community and purpose. 
 
Meeting Location:  The Board approved the motion to meet at two locations during the Rotary year.  The dates below indicate the locations of the October meetings.
October 3            the last 2017 meeting at Suffield Country Club, 
October 10          Lobster Fest celebration at Fox Hollow Gun Club,  (details forthcoming)
October 17          the initial 2017 meeting at Season’s dining hall at Suffield By The River.
 
Hurricane Efforts:  Locally the Suffield Rotary will partner with the Interact Club to support any efforts they may have in progress for this need.  Internationally/Nationally the recommendation is to donate to the specific Rotary International funds noted in the information distributed by our district leaders.  To date there has been no specific effort to support; Dick will relay any information as it becomes available.
 
Giving Committee:  The Board approved the guidelines submitted by the committee, which sets their review of proposed projects at a $2,500 threshold.  Any request below the $2,500 threshold will be submitted to the Board for consideration.  Any request for financial support already identified in our club budget will be paid automatically since the amount has already been approved in the approved budget.
 
Program:  Luis Lee led the induction of our newest member, Roger Platt. Roger introduced his wife, Marsha and proceeded with a brief bio of his whereabouts since his birth in Dublin.  We welcome Roger to the club!
 
Birthdays and Anniversaries:  Gail Handley’s birthday was celebrated with the traditional signing of Happy Birthday while Tom Sullivan received the special Rotary version!
 
Blue Ticket Winners:  Jay Presser had the winning blue ticket, with a sides won by Jon Kozlowski and Roger Pratt.
 
Queen of Hearts:  Gail Handley had the winning ticket, but did not select the queen. Next week’s drawing $549+.
 
Adjournment: Dick Kisiel adjourned the meeting and led a closing song.
