The Rotary Club of Suffield held its weekly meet at the Sunset Tavern at Suffield Country Club.

Members Present:Jackie Argus, Gil Ahrens, Dale Baker, Joe Blake, Blair Childs, Gerry Crane, Jed Dery, Frank DiGennaro, Ralph Fletcher, Sam Fuller, Gail Handley, Greg Heineman, Dick Kisiel, Luis Lee, Jack Muska, Ken Pascoe, Jay Pressor, Scott Seabury, Gordon Stagg, Nancy Viggiano, and Jim Wood. The club averaged a 52.6% attendance rate for the month of August.

The club welcomed several guests including Guy Fortunato (guest of Joe Blake), and Krystal Holmes and Beth Chafetz members of the Bridge Street School Community Center Committee.

President Jackie welcomed everyone and invited members to recite the Pledge of Allegiance, and club members to recite the Rotary Four-Way Test.  Scott Seabury gave the invocation and led the club in singing "God Bless America."

Krystal Holmes and Beth Chafetz gave on overview of the proposed Community Center at the site of the abandoned Bridget Street School, followed by questions from club members about the project.

The dinner provided club members with several different entree selections.

Following dinner, Ken Pascoe gave update on the golf tournament and the chicken barbecue.  The golf tournament realized a net profit of $24,000. Some discussion followed on how these raised funds would be distributed between the Packard Foundation and the Rotary Club.  Ken said that this matter is under discussion.   Ken will send an email to club  members about the support and volunteers needed the week before the barbecue.  Club members are asked to respond to Ken's email.

Tom Sullivan will celebrate his birthday on September 5.  He missed the opportunity to hear the club's "melodious" rendition of "Happy Birthday.  The club congratulated Jay and Joanne Pressor on their 38th anniversary.

Club members contributed $32.00 of "Happy Dollars" in recognition of President Jackie's upcoming nuptial, the results of the golf tournament,and  the guest speakers for the evening.

Luis Lee drew the lucky red ticket.  He will draw his card at the next meeting.   won the blue ticket drawing, with the sides won by Ken Pascoe and Blair Childs.

President Jackie adjourned the meeting with the singing of "America."

The club meets next week at Season's Restaurant at 6:15 p.m.
