Club Meeting September 11, 2018
 
Opening and Welcome:  President Dick Kisiel opened the meeting with the Pledge of Allegiance and the recitation of the Rotary Four-Way Test.  Scott Seabury provided the invocation and led the club singing of “God Bless America”.
 
Members Present: Dale Baker, Gayle Demko, Jed Dery, Frank DiGennaro, Gail Handley, Greg Heineman, Heidi Huhn Partain, Richard Kisiel, Jon Kozloski, Luis Lee, Bob Lowell, Cat (Morrow)Thomas, Jack Muska, Ken Pascoe, Ray Perleoni, Roger Pratt, Jay Presser, Don Rawling, Charles Roumas, Tom Sullivan and Scott Seabury.  (21/34….62%).
 
Guests: James Blain – SHS Principal and Johanne Presser.
 
Announcements: President Kisiel made several announcements:
- SOTG Chicken BBQ Fundraiser:  Kudos to Ken and all of our members who came together to assist.  The Interact Club were invaluable with assistance during the day on Sunday.  Ken seconded with his thanks to all and noted he is constructing a supply list and work responsibilities list for use next year.  He also noted the signage should be increased to enhance sales, which were down.  Gayle will give feedback to Friends of Suffield that traffic was down with the South Green only hosting food booths and music.
 
-Lobster/Steak Social:  October 9 at Fox Hollow Gun Club.  Dick has organized the event and will send out a sign up for membership.  Roger will collect for the meals.
 
-Sand and Salt:  Karen Mason will get an article into the Suffield Observer for this event.
 
-Giving Committee:  Will discuss Hilltop Project with Ray and report to Board.
 
-District Conference – Nov 1-Enfield; attendance from each committee would be ideal!  Officers should make every effort to attend.
 
PROGRAM:  Jim Blain began the school year on August 29 as the Principal of Suffield High School (800 students).  His goal is to make a real difference in the climate of the high school.  Jim would like to bring stability to the organization and bring out the best in his staff and students by making all feel valued.  He wants to provide a healthy, safe and more relaxed environment within the school as well as enhancing community based service while meeting state regulations.  The Rotary wishes Jim success and support in his efforts this year!  Jim hails from Springfield and currently lives in Longmeadow. 
 
Blue Ticket Winners: Blue ticket winner was Ken Pascoe with sides won by Heidi and Jay.
 
Queen of Hearts:  Dale Baker had the winning ticket and did not pull the Queen of Hearts.  Total winning pot now stands at $647+.
 
Birthdays and Anniversaries: Gail Handley celebrated a birthday!
 
Adjournment: Dick Kisiel closed the meeting with a group singing of “God Bless America”.
