Club Meeting January 15 2019
 
Opening and Welcome:  President Dick Kisiel opened the meeting with the Pledge of Allegiance and the recitation of the Rotary Four-Way Test.  Scott Seabury provided the invocation and led the club singing of “God Bless America”.
 
Members Present:  Dale Baker, Jed Dery, Gail Handley, Richard Kisiel, Jon Kozloski, Luis Lee, Don Miner, Jack Muska, Ken Pascoe, Jay Presser, Scott Seabury, Gordon Stagg, and Nancy Viggiano.  (13/31….42%).
 
Guests: Hannah Stack, Student of the Month; Mr. & Mrs. Matt Stack; Maureen Harnet; SHS teacher; and Heather Lee
 
Announcements:  
Dick announced that information on the Yardgoats game schedule is now available.  He is seeking a club member who would be to coordinate a trip to a baseball game in Hartfor sometime in July or August on a meeting night.
 
Dick thanked members of the club who volunteered to work an an action plan focused on membership and membership engagement. The committee will meet at Dick’s house at 6:30 p.m. on January 24.
 
Scott Seabury will continue to coordinate the programs for our weekly meetings.  He seeks recommendations from club members for program and speaker suggestions.
 
Nancy Viggiano announced that the wine tasting fundraising event will be held on May 17 at Season’s Restaurant at 7:30 p.m.
 
Dick announced that our annual Paul Harris and end of the Rotary year will take place on Tuesday June 25.  Ken Pascoe asked members to submit to him suggested Paul Harris recipients.  
 
PROGRAM:
 
Maureen Harnet, a French teacher at Suffield High, School, introduced Hannah Stack the Student of the Month for January 2019.  She described Hannah as enthusiastic, diligent student, with an infectious smile matching her charming personality.
 
Hannah shared her enthusiasm and interest in working with high school special needs students through the “Buddies Club” and volunteering as a Special Olympics coach. Hannah is member of the Interact Club and student representative on the Suffield Board of Education.  She plans to enroll in Marist College, major in psychology and pursue a career in neuro-psychology.
 
Birthdays:  The following club members celebrate birthdays, but were not present to receive of infamous rendition of “Happy Borthday” Ralph Fletcher, Bob Lowell, and Natalie Donaid.
 
Blue Ticket Winners: Blue ticket winner was Dick Kisiel with side winner Gordon Stagg.
 
Queen of Hearts:  Hannah drew the winning ticket for Ken Pascoe and did not pull the Queen of Hearts.  Total winning pot now stands at $49.
