Club Meeting April 9, 2019
 
Opening and Welcome:  President Dick Kisiel opened the meeting with the Pledge of Allegiance and the recitation of the Rotary Four-Way Test.  Scott Seabury provided the invocation and led the club singing of “Take Me Out to the Ballgame”.
 
Members Present: Dale Baker, Gayle Demko, Jed Dery, Frank DiGennaro, Natalie Donais, Gail Handley, Greg Heineman, Richard Kisiel, Jon Kozloski, Luis Lee, Don Miner, Jack Muska, Paul Muska, Ken Pasco, Roger Pratt, Jay Presser, Don Rawling, Scott Seabury, Gordon Stagg, Tom Sullivan and Nancy Viggiano.  (21/31….67%).
 
Guests: Student of the Month Matthew Sckozylas and Mom, Yolanda Sckozylas and Interact Adviser, Kate McClusky.
 
Announcements: 
Dick welcomed our SOTM and his Mom to the meeting and welcomed Kate.
 
Both Jack Muska and Don Miner were recognized with awards at their annual Suffield Volunteer Ambulance Assn Banquet last week.  We congratulate both of these fine gentlemen for their continued support to the community of Suffield!
 
Nancy reported the Wine Tasting plans were moving ahead with the addition of a craft beer tasting anticipated as well as cordials and aperitifs.  And Nancy encouraged members to sell their tickets!  We hope to fill the dining hall on May 17!
 
Enfield Rotary will host a wine tasting on Thursday, April 18.  Dick reports this event is typically well attended and he plans to support their fundraiser. 
 
Ken Pascoe reports the Paul Harris committee has received nominations and all is moving forward on this event.
 
Jon Kozloski asks the Golf Committee to get together after the meeting this evening for a quick meeting.
 
Board Meeting: 
  • The Board approved $500 donation toward the Dustin Doyon Road Race. 
  • Discussion regarding funding for Deterra pouches was also discussed and tabled for further clarification.
  • The By Laws will be revised to include Assistant Secretary and Assistant Treasurer positions.
 
Induction:  Luis Lee welcomed Paul Muska as the newest Rotary member and presented the new member folder and lapel pin.  We look forward to Paul’s introduction bio in the near future!  Welcome Paul!!!!!
 
Program:
Natalie introduced Kate McClusky, the Interact Advisor at Suffield High School.  Kate had recommended Matt for this month’s award and described him as genuine, compassionate, academically progressive, and a wonderful role model.  Matt described his participation in Suffield High School as academically focused and not “resume” focused.  His true interest is found within the Polish community in New Britain with his parents and he thoroughly enjoys the support and involvement this group provides.  Matt’s goal is to attend University of Hartford, major in psychology, attend medical school and ultimately become a child psychologist.  Matt was an honest, forthright gentleman who won the respect and heart of the listeners.  Good Luck Matt!  
 
Blue Ticket Winners: Blue ticket winner was Ken Pascoe with side winners Dale and Jack Muska.
Queen of Hearts:  Jay Presser had the winning ticket and did not pull the Queen of Hearts.  Total winning pot now stands at $365.
 
Birthdays and Anniversaries: No birthdays were celebrated this evening.
Adjournment: Scott closed the meeting with a group singing of “My Country Tis of Thee”.
