SUFFIELD ROTARY FOUNDATION MEETING
December 11, 2018
Suffield by the River
Call the Meeting to Order at 5:35 pm

Secretary’s Report: Foundation Meeting Minutes were approved as presented.

Treasurer’s Report accepted with the following balance as of Oct 31, 2018:
Foundation:                                                $28,462
Morgan Stanley-Managed Funds:                 $146,400

Old Business:
Town Wide Project – Sunrise Park trail and playground.  Jack met with Mark Cervione of the Conservation commission and $100,000 has been set aside by the town for a boundless playground on the site of the existing playground.  The trail around the park was estimated at $35,000 cost for a proper maintenance, an assessment Jack considered quite high for the work that really needed to be done as this was not going to be a handicap assessable trail.  A district grant could be sought for work on this project.  Hilltop Farm – Dick will check into the feasibility of a district grant to continue to support the projects at this location.

Dick has requested Park and Rec to provide an estimate of the funds required for trail repair and playground equipment.  He is still pursuing this information with the goal of applying for both Zak and District grants.  Deadline on the Zak Grant is early February 2019.

District Grants - Two members are required to register and attend one of the three available webinars in Feb/Mar timeframe.  Attendees can register for one of three webinars: Tuesday, February 26th at 7:00 PM or Wednesday, March 13th at 7:00 PM or Saturday, March 30th at 10:AM.  To register for the webinars, go to rotarydistrict7890.org and click on the date on the right hand side of the home page.
After registering, you will receive a confirmation email containing information about joining the webinar.  Gayle will attend; perhaps Don R will also.

New Business:
  • Loaves & Fishes has requested a donation; Suffield Rotary will continue to support Crossroads and keep this as a local contribution.
  • RYLA-no youth applications have been received.
  • Girl Scouts have scheduled a “Thinking Day” in February and have sent an inquiry email regarding funding for its location.  Dick has not received a formal request but the consensus of the board following discussion regarded the actual need to support the renting of a location when free locations are available frivolous.

Club Member Forum - No one from the club approached the Board
