Although it looks like America may have weathered the worst of the recession , many states are still reeling from the economic slump and most have made large cuts in public service funding, including higher education. As a result, public colleges and universities have increased tuition, meaning students are probably going to pay more now. This is why scholarships have become so essential to the majority of students who want to graduate with a college degree. Sunrise Rotary offers several annual Scholarships to those pursuing a higher education and the winners of those scholarships are in!

The New Horizons Scholarship goes to Denise Heimstead for one thousand dollars.

The Service Before Self Scholarship goes to both Rachel Fernandez and Tare Guden for five hundred dollars each.

The Work Based Scholarship goes to both Samuel Bauman and Tiffany Gudan for five hundred dollars each.
