The Fort Morgan and Brush Rotary Clubs hosted a five-member team from Croatia last Wednesday through Saturday.

Benjamin Zubovic (manufacturer) was hosted by Mr. and Mrs. Doug Crandall, Petra Tariba (dentist) was hosted by Dr. and Mrs. Chuck Schonberger, Mislav Kirac (mechanical engineer) and Miroslav Rajter (psychologist) were hosted by David Bute and Lucija Milinkovic (merchandiser) was hosted by Mr. and Mrs. Larry Porter.

The Croatians toured Walmart, Morgan Community College, Pawnee Power Plant, the School for the Performing Arts, Colorado Plains Medical Center and the Fort Morgan Museum. They also spent time walking around both towns and they were very surprised at the friendliness and willingness of everyone to just stop and talk to them.

In addition to the planned tours they were able to ride "Bruce," Brush Rodeo Queen Rachel McCracken's horse and drive a 1965 Mustang fastback (a real muscle car as they put it). They also spent quite a lot of time at Quail Dunes and Bunker Hill Golf Clubs, where Benjamin and others helped the team on the driving range.

On Wednesday evening a "get acquainted" pot-luck dinner was held at Eben Ezer with both clubs participating. The entire team answered questions about their country and asked quite a few about the United States.

Thursday at noon the team presented a power point to a combined club meeting.

Croatia is a beautiful country with mountains, large cities and very old buildings and borders the Adriatic Sea.

It was a part of Yugoslavia (which split into six countries). Croatia is approximately 1/5 the size of Colorado. Because their main industry is agriculture there are many similarities between Croatia and Colorado. They also grow sugar beets.

The Banner Exchange was conducted by Zubovic and President Michelle Nelson (Fort Morgan) and President-Elect Teri Hermsmeyer (Brush). The team left for Littleton on Saturday morning.
