The 6th annual Fort Morgan Rotary chili/soup cook-off was a great success and we had a great turnout from the community sampling over 20+ soup and chili entries.
The weather cooperated with temperatures in the 60's, then 70's, to make for a very pleasant chili and soup tasting day. The contestants were set up on Beaver street between Main and the Snowzilla slide just south of Library Park and the city provided power pedestals for contestants to plug in their warmers. We had a wide range of entries, from white, red, and black bean chilis with lots of different kinds of meats to flavorful soups that included butternut squash with fried carrot topping!

Besides ticket holders being able to vote for their favorite, we had some local 'celebrity' judges taste each dish (yes, they were pretty full by the end) and vote for a Grand Prize winner, a Best Chili winner, and a Best Soup winner. This year we offered cash prizes to our winners and we would like to congratulate the following, who will join us at our Rotary lunch meeting on the 12th to be presented their winning checks:

Grand Prize winner: Donny Edson & Cody Millar
Best Chili: Jason & Brittany Meyers
Best Soup: Robin Northrup
People's Choice: Donny Edson & Cody Millar

We would like to thank our celebrity judges: Fort Morgan Mayor Ron Shaver, B106  Radio Personality John Beltran, and Morgan County Undersheriff Dave Martin.

And of course, this wouldn't have been possible without our sponsors, to whom we owe many thanks!
Executive Chef sponsors: Buildings by Design, City of Fort Morgan, and Western Sugar.
Sous Chef sponsors: Colorado Plains Medical Center, Insurance Connection, and Smirks.
Station Chef sponsors: Charlene Holsworth, East Morgan County Hospital, Media Logic, Morgan Community College, and Viaero Wireless.
