We are People of Action, creating projects, hosting fundraisers or applying for grants-all to make a difference in Longmont and neighboring communities, serving the nation and our world-that is the goal at Longmont Rotary!
The Longmont Rotary club has been in action since 1919. Many projects have happened during that time and our commitment to taking action is still our mantra. Check out the current (or recently completed) projects below which serves as our belief in Service Above Self.
Annually the Longmont Rotary Club supports the efforts of the Salvation Army by ringing the bells at our local King Soopers. All the funds raised go to support the needs of eligible individuals in the St. Vrain Valley area.
Longmont Rotary raised funds through this cycling event to support the Veteran's Community Project, building tiny homes in Longmont.
The Winter Warmth Coat Drive has been an annual event for 31 years. The community coat drive is held in the fall and the club members collect new and gently-used coats, blankets, hats, scarves, gloves and mittens. These items are sorted, cleaned and prepared for distribution at an event hosted by The OUR Center each year in early December. The OUR Center provides emergency resources and longer-term assistance to people experiencing challenging financial and other life circumstances. Additionally, the Longmont Charity Fund provides the funds to purchase new coats for children and extra large adults coats. The coat drive began in 1991 with six donation sites and has grown over time with the support of volunteers helping collect, drop-off, sort and distribute these garments.
Promoting literacy locally and abroad is essential in building strong societies.

Downtown Beautification
The Downtown Beautification Committee has identified 42 specific sites throughout the downtown core and harbor front to be revitalized. Groups can adopt a site, and pool their efforts to plant, grow, build and improve the overall appearance of the site.
Habitat for Humanity Homes
Together, the District Rotary Clubs and Habitat for Humanity built 10 homes in downtown Anityville to provide home ownership to families living in substandard housing, helping those in need blow by the bubbles of the housing markets.
Funds to complete the project were raised by Club members and generous citizens like yourself. Construction of the affordable housing was finished in 2015, with no insurance claims yet. The build was registered with Rotary International as a "Bicentennial Community Development Project."
Combining the goals and resources of your community with the wide reach of Rotary International helps us pool resources, and share them where they can do the most impact. The coordination of the projects brings more assistance to those in need, maximizing the impact of limited and specialized resources.

The Rotary Club of Anityville (and some members of the nearby city council) partnered with Habitat for Humanity to create 20 town homes on Announcie Street in downtown Anityville.
Member involvement was the focal point in building the homes and surrounding landscapes. Rotary Club members completed hands-on work alongside other volunteers. The new house keys were presented to 20 families in need at the Harvest Ceremony in October 2016.
Our biggest community service project this year is the installation of a community garden and cookout campsite families of Anityville, Ontario. We are tilling the soil in April, and laying our BBQ Pits in May. Lend a hand anytime this summer, as we create a renewable space for community gatherings.
