Welcome Gary to Longmont Rotary!
We’re excited to welcome Gary and his son Jared to our club through our Corporate Membership!  Gary is the VP of Operations - LEED AP, an integral part of the Krische Construction, Inc. team.  Gary has called Longmont home since 1985, after moving from Kearney, Nebraska. He and his wife of 40 years have built a beautiful family together, with three children and four grandchildren.  A passionate community member, Gary enjoys coaching youth sports, mentoring kids, hunting, fishing, and serving his church. We’re thrilled to have him on board and look forward to making an impact together!
Program:  The Clyfford Still Museum
CU Graduate student Brittany Ashley introduced club members to the works of abstract artist, Clyfford Still.  His collection of work can be viewed at the Clyfford Still Museum in Denver.
Brittany is a Master’s student in Art History at C.U in Boulder, completing her dissertation on Still's work. She has a deep appreciation for his art and his legacy in abstract form.  Her appreciation inspired her fiancee to propose marriage at the museum.  Clyfford Still (1904–1980) had a unique artistic vision and was unwilling to compromise it for money or recognition. Still thought the best way to experience his art was by seeing it all in one place. Designed specifically to display Clyfford Still’s work, the 28,500-square-foot museum is home to approximately 3,125 pieces representing more than 93% of his lifetime of work.
Check Presentation: Longmont YMCA
President Andy Lee presented a check to Lucy Mackuse on behalf of the YMCA. The $1000.00 check will be used to support their upcoming Bike Giveaway, scheduled for this Fall.
Congrats Janet Day: Paul Harris +5
Congratulations Janet, for your continued commitment to The Rotary Foundation, receiving your Paul Harris Fellow +5.  The Paul Harris Fellow award recognizes people who contribute $1,000 or more to Rotary International's Foundation. Annual Fund donations come back to Rotary Clubs in the form of grants.  Donations to The Rotary Foundation can also be earmarked for the Polio Plus campaign. Rotary has been working to eradicate polio for more than 35 years. Polio is a disease that is not as recognized by younger people, but it still exists in our world, paralyzing young children.
The current statistics right now stand as this: The total number of children paralyzed by any form of the poliovirus for 2024 stands at 376. These cases usually represent a child aged five and under who has some form of permanent paralysis as a result of polio.  IT'S TIME TO END THIS DISEASE!
