Julia grew in the suburbs of Denver, “a lovely safe neighborhood with lots of kids”. She graduated from Arapahoe High School. She wanted to become an Oceanographer, "even though I had never seen the ocean". She did a quick turn in college and instead majored in Biochemistry and Biophysics. Her first job was growing large vats of E.coli, studying the actions of Messenger RNA. When the funding of that research project ended, she decided to move to Mexico. With her brand new degree, Julia and her family moved to California where she took over a practice at UCLA. As time went on, Julia was drawn back to Colorado, moving to Greeley with her husband and 2 kids and enjoying life on a horse ranch. Fast forward some time, Julia recently moved to Longmont after the sudden passing of her husband. She is “more or less” retired from Medicine and is excited to live in Longmont and is “so happy to be a Rotarian!”Vocational Talk: Dr. Julia Bruce
