Rotarians....problem solvers eh!!!!.....Arrowsmith Rotary was all set to resume in person meetings at the restaurant they had been had for years, prior to the pandemic hitting the Globe.  The first meeting was set for September 7th, and plans and an agenda had been put together, and this meeting was our first meeting to start the hybrid feature and to test the necessary equipment....then the unexpected happened!!!

Arrowsmith Rotarians step up to volunteer with the Salvation Army Food Services Truck, as the pandemic fatigue continued, and the need for food services to the vulnerable, remained high....When the pandemic set foot in the Alberni Valley in early 2020, the already high need for food and hygiene products for those members of our community most vulnerable, grew considerably... It was the forward thinking, when Captain Ramsay moved quickly to relocate a food services kitchen/canteen vehicle to Port Alberni from another jurisdiction, and started serving lunches on a daily basis almost immediately, to those in need, no questions asked.  But as the pandemic continued, with really no end in sight, volunteer fatigue grew immensely, and the need to source other staffing resources became critical and new partnerships were needed as there was a new need identified for evening food services.
It is with great excitement and anticipation, the Rotary Club of Port Alberni-Arrowsmith introduces the "Rotary Community Mural Project:.  The theme for this mural project, in support of reconciliation, is" "Building Relationships Brick by Brick".

This project started as an idea by the Arrowsmith Rotary Club, in support and recognition of Reconciliation and has been in the planning process for 2 long years.  The mural will be painted on the large blank wall, on the CME building, across from the Port Alberni Train Station, on Harbour Road.  The artist, Shayne Lloyd, has prepared the image that will span the entire brick wall portion of the building (covering over 1450 wall bricks).  The painting is scheduled to start early in August of this year.  Updated information will be posted very regular from now until the completion of this great community project.
