UMHS

Upper Moreland High School February Student of the Month is

Zoe Wolfenson. Zoe in a member of Key Club and is on the Mini-Thon committee. She is a member of the Spanish Club and Interact Club.  She plays Varsity Singles and serves as the Captain of the girls Tennis Team, plays on the Lacrosse and Indoor Track team and is a member of the Fellowship of Christian Athletes.

Outside of school Zoe is involved with Keneseth Israel Confirmation Academy where she hosts holiday dinners for seniors, helps deliver food to food pantries and families and helps out with babysitting.

Zoe is an excellent student and is ranked third in the class with a G.P.A. of 100.13 Zoe plans to major in Chemistry in college and pursue a career in Pediatric Medicine.

 

Eastern

Olivia Hepner is the February 2018 Student of the Month at Eastern Center for Arts and Technology in Willow Grove. She is in EASTERN’s Commercial Art program and a senior at Springfield High School. The Student of the Month Award is sponsored by EASTERN’s faculty, Joint Committee and the Willow Grove Rotary Club to highlight student excellence, success and service. Ten students each year are selected for this honor. Olivia attended EASTERN’s Summer Fun program while in middle school, and knew that enrolling in the Commercial Art program in high school would be an ideal fit for her to begin training for her graphic design career passion. Olivia is involved in EASTERN’s Student Leadership organization, SkillsUSA, and is currently the SkillsUSA Commercial Art Class Officer. She was selected by her EASTERN instructor to attend the Career and Technical Student Organization Leadership Conference in the Poconos in November 2017. Through her Commercial Art program, Olivia has developed a professional portfolio that greatly assisted her in getting into the college program of her choice. As a junior, she was recognized with the Attendance Award and the Commercial Art Occupational Advisory Committee Junior Professionalism Award during EASTERN’s Annual Awards Night program. During the summer of 2017, Olivia was a student teacher for EASTERN’s Computer Art and Digital Photography Summer Fun program.

At Springfield High School, Olivia participated in the Jumpstart Program, a College Application and Essay Writing workshop, and worked on the 2015 – 2016 yearbook as photographer and assisted with design layout.“Olivia is ambitious, creative, and extremely talented,” said Nicole Mohrey, EASTERN Commercial Art Instructor. “She has true dedication to the graphic design field and I am confident that she will succeed in college and her career.”

After completing the Commercial Art program at EASTERN and graduating from Springfield High School, Olivia plans to continue her education at Tyler Art School at Temple University focusing on graphic design.Ultimately, she would like to work in the Philadelphia area as a graphic designer for invitations and greeting cards.
