United Way Thank You
Ashley Chambers and Jean Morrow from United Way of Berks County spoke to our Club about the impactful work United Way does to tackle critical community challenges. There efforts are founded on fundamental principles, uniting the right mix of people and organizations to address our community’s health and human service needs. It was enlightening to discover how United Way’s programs concentrate on critical areas such as Education, Health, Financial Stability and Safety Net Services which align closely with Rotary’s seven areas of focus. We are excited to explore future collaboration opportunities.

Ed Kern and John Hampson offered insights into their family lives, careers, and motivations for joining Rotary at our lunch meeting on Sept.18th. They exemplify the principle of Service Above Self and are certainly People of Action!

The West Reading Fall Festival marked an exceptional day for community involvement. Our Wilson Interact Club, along with the soon-to-be-chartered Rotaract Berks County Club, participated in the event. The giveaway of 500 free tree seedlings highlighted our dedication to environmental sustainability, evidenced by many attendees carrying them along the Avenue. Moreover, visitors had the chance to learn more about our Youth Program's scholarships, leadership camps, academies, and exchange programs. Click Here for more pictures.

World Mental Health Day, October 10 organized by the World Federation for Mental Health and supported by the World Health Organization. Rotary District 7430 has formed a Mental Health & Wellness Committee to foster mental health awareness among Rotarians. Our Club has also established a Mental Health and Wellness Committee. The Rotary Action Group for Mental Health Initiatives has outlined three objectives for Rotary's advancement in this area: increasing awareness of mental health issues, combating the stigma associated with mental health discussions, and seeking ways to improve access to care.
