A Promise Made. A Promise Kept. A Promise Nearly Fulfilled. Rotary has helped immunize 2.5 billion children and cut polio by 99.9% — but the final 0.1% is the hardest. As World Polio Day approaches, we ask you to join us for happy hour and #ENDPOLIONOW. This is our moment to come together, recognize our progress, and take action to end polio for good.
We don't often mention fights as Rotarians, but this one we talk about a lot!

ROTARY AND THE FIGHT AGAINST POLIO

Rotary vs. Polio: A Timeline

Rotary is an international community that brings together leaders who step up to take on the world’s toughest challenges, locally and globally. The eradication of polio is one of our longest standing and most significant efforts. Along with our partners, we have helped immunize more than 3 billion children against polio in 122 countries. We have reduced polio cases by 99.9 percent worldwide and we won't stop until we end the disease for good.

The West Reading-Wyomissing Rotary Club is getting a jump start on their fundraising efforts to support the fight to end polio.  Each year we contribute $1,000 to this effort and our goal is to raise the money before World Polio Day on the 24th of October.  HOW CAN YOU HELP?  Please join us at the Pagoda City Brewing Happy Hour.  We will have informaiton about Rotary's efforts to eradicate polio forever. Tickets are $20 in advance and $25 at the door.  No raffles to enter that night, just a group of citizens hoping to raise some funds while having a beverage together. We do hope you bring along a few extra bucks to donate to our cause.  Each paid ticket will get a 4 pack of PINKIE PROMISE Lager to take home with them.

We accept cash, checks made payable to "WRW Rotary" and credit cards. If you are a Rotarian who donates to Polio Plus online, bring us a printed copy of your donation made in October 2026 and we will enter you into our door prize.

Please join us on Wednesday, October 7th to drink a pint for polio. Pagoda City brews exceptional beers and non-alcoholic sodas. For those liquor drinkers, you can find PA sourced alcohol as well.  Cash bar. Food truck on site.

Everyone who donates to #EndPolioNow will get a chance to win our door prize.  No donation is too big or too small.  Give what you can and enjoy an evening with your Rotary friends and family.  This event is open to the public (age 21 and over).  All are welcome. We hope to see you there.
