Wyomissing Creek Restoration Project: Fall Planting

Join us Saturday, October 11, 9:00 am (Rain Date: Sunday October 12) for the first planting, A second planting will be held next Spring.

The West Reading-Wyomissing Rotary Club is helping the Borough of Wyomissing with the first phase of a stream restoration project on Wyomissing Creek.  The project is being partially funded by a West Reading-Wyomissing Rotary Club District Grant.  We also have a financial contribution from Rotary eClub One, a virtual online club based in the Denver, Colorado area.  One of their members lives in Wyomissing.

Borough staff will be removing invasive plant species such as honeysuckle, Japanese knotweed, and loosestrife from the streambanks.  Our club will then help them plant native trees along the stream, creating a new riparian buffer that will help control erosion and support trout and the aquatic insects on which they feed.
