The Interact Club at Souderton Area High School has been busy this fall. They held their annual Veteran’s Brunch on November 4. This is a combined event by Interact and the Support Our Troops clubs. The keynote speaker was our very own Chief Jim Leary who shared his experiences as a paratrooper in the Army and his accomplished career serving as a police officer, including Chief of Police for Souderton Borough. Did you know Jim was a competitive skydiver?  Click on the link to read more about what the Interact Club has been up to!

Another highlight was the oldest guest, 104 year old Eric Wisenhurter, a WWII veteran. He served as a combat photographer during D-Day and photographed many other battles during the war. Wisenhurter is a resident at Peter Becker Community.

At the Veterans Brunch students and veterans have the opportunity to socialize with each other, a highlight for the students.

A new venture for the Interact Club started this fall in conjunction with the Indian Valley Education Foundation. A Genius Bar will be held two times a month at Peter Becker Community where Interact members will be available to assist PBC residents with tech questions. The first was held on November 8. Four students assisted six residents with questions about their mobile phones, tablets, and how WiFi works in different locations.

The residents were so grateful to have assistance with their questions and a chance to interact with young people in our community.

The Genius Bar is underway at PBC and another will be added at Souderton Mennonite Home starting in early 2024.

The Interact Club consists of 183 students who each must complete at least 15 hours of volunteer service by the end of the school year. That’s 2,745 hours! So, please contact Karla Myers if you know of any groups or organizations that could use volunteers.
