Smoky Hill has sent $2000 to the Oradea, Romania Rotary Club to support their hands-on work with Ukrainian Refugees. We will send at least $3000 more in early April due to our fundraising efforts. We know our funds will be put to good use because we have personally worked with the Oradea Club and its members for over 20 years. Pictured is a family fleeing Ukraine on the way to Budapest and Prague, after being helped in Oradea.

Our financial support for Ukrainian Refugees via the hands-on work of our sister club, Oradea, Romania Rotary Club continues.

From Dacian in Romania:
"The number of refugees keeps growing, most of them are in transit.  The camp of Caminul Felix, Camp Project 127, Hotel Ramada (where our club meets), along with other organizations throughout Romania - offer impressive support. Hundreds of people (all together), every couple of days are traveling through.

I have an emotional story of this week. The girl Dasha from Kyiv was one of the Ukrainian children attending a camp in Oradea, in 2019. She is currently living with her grandma only - her parents passed away some time ago. She left Kyiv several days ago with her grandma and two other women from the family. The oldest lady in the group (Babushka) is 88 yrs old. Dasha is 17 yrs old.

At this moment Dasha and the three ladies are being hosted in an apartment provided as humanitarian support by our Rotary Club. We helped with food and logistics and they are now safe and well. The lunch is offered for free on behalf of the Club for this week.

They are going to stay here in Oradea for a longer time so we are in the process to find some longer time local support and some integration activities (Dasha is the only one in the group able to speak a little English).

I will continue to keep you informed on the developments.

Dacian"
