Service-With Heart and Food

On Wednesday, Smoky Hill Rotarians served food, friendship and compassion to families at Ronald McDonald House, a home away from home for people dealing with a seriously ill child. The service event has become one of the most rewarding and significant club projects. No one who goes to this event can fail to be moved by the sheer magnitude of the emotional experience the parents and siblings of a sick kid are going through.

It is the responsibility of the volunteering group to plan, cook and serve a complete meal. There is always plenty of time for the Rotarians and family to have a good time. There are also those moments when they get to hear the stories of the people they are serving-some that break the heart, but all that serve as monuments to what love of family allows us to endure. It is a true privilege to be allowed into their lives, even in this small way.
