We were treated to a program from Senator Nancy Todd. Aurora's State Senator, Nancy has served in both the House and the Senate and will complete her term-limited service in the Senate in two years. Senator Todd got off on the right foot with us noting that her father was a Rotarian and that she is a former Rotarian, leaving only due to time constraints due to her elected public service.Senator Todd views the role of an elected legislator as being in service to the entire state, not just her district. She also observed that the state-wide view is not shared by all of the other legislators she must work with. She emphasized that Colorado is not just served by Republican, Democrats, and Independents, but also by a split in Rural/Urban and Front Range/Western Slope interests. Her idea of a perfect bill is one that has bi-partisan and bi-cameral support as well as support from urban and rural legislators.
Senator Todd Reviewed the passage of SB1, the transportation bill, the PERA bill, and the bill on gerrymandering. We clearly ran out of time. Perhaps Senator Nancy will grace us again at Smoky Hill!
