25 YEARS OF WOMEN IN ROTARY
On Monday evening, March 4, 2013 Smoky Hill Rotary Club celebrated the 25th anniversary of inducting women as members of the Club. A lively group gathered at the Summit Restaurant to hear President Jeff Kaes recall the vote that changed the Club forever. Our own member, Talee Crowe, entertained us with stories of her term as the first female District Governor in District 5450. The speaker for the evening was 9 News Morning Sports person, Susie Wargin.
Susie’s message was that a female working in a male-dominated field can be successful if you do a good job. The female will stand out in the crowd. She told the group her goal was to be a radio sports personality but when the opportunity to be on TV presented itself, she took it. We heard many stories about interviewing local sports personalities. Susie was refreshingly honest and very entertaining. It’s clear she is doing a good job. (Photo - Susie Wargin)
